DR. PESSINIS was born in Montreal and at a very young age the family moved to South Africa where he grew up and received his dental degree and post graduate education from the University of the Witwatersrand. He grew up playing sports like rugby, soccer and cricket but when returning to North America he fell in love with hockey and various winter sports. Dr Pessinis practised dentistry in South Africa for 10 years in a variety of environments ranging from the poorer communities in the inner city areas of Johannesburg to the Embassy Belt of the capital city of Pretoria,treating ambassadors from various countries and their consular staff. As a result of this broad experience, he is able to relate to people from all walks of life and tailor solutions appropriate to their needs and wants. While in private practice, Dr Pessinis did research in cleft palate development leading to a Master of Science in Dentistry degree. The results of that research were presented at the International Association of Dental Research for which he received first prize. When this research was done, Dr Pessinis continued in academia and embarked on a Master of Business Administration degree from Southern Cross University in Australia. Dr Pessinis decided to move back home to Canada in 2000 and had to challenge the Canadian Board Exams. He had to join the current dental class and complete a 2 year equivalency program resulting in his second dental degree from the University of British Columbia. He was so well liked and respected by his peers that he was elected Class President of the graduating class of 2002. He bought a well run, established family practice in West Vancouver is 2003 from which he served the community of the North Shore for 15 years and then built a brand new state of the art clinic in North Vancouver in May 2017 from which he currently practices. In his spare time, Dr Pessinis has been active in the community having been a member of the Rotary Club of West Vancouver and volunteering at a clinic in the Downtown East Side. Leisure includes cycling, having done the Ride to Conquer Cancer Ride to Seattle six times, as well as snow shoeing. Interests also involve overseas travel with a special interest in ancient Greek and Roman History.
